Whostalkin Test Drive

Whostalkin, a beta search engine, focuses on social media sites and blogs.  The concept of expanding searches to include social sites is gaining momentum.

Whostalkin looks  promising for finding information from social sites such as Twitter, blogs, blog search engines with meta searches, and a number of other types of social sites. This might return hits that represent ‘inside chatter’ as it searches many content-rich, but offbeat, sources.

I don’t have a lot of experience with this, but I will use it as much as possible over the next couple of months to get a better understanding of its utility.

    Richard,

What an interesting blog - well done! Keep up the good work.

Whostalkin seems to provide limited results (especially when I searched my own name) but maybe I’m not understanding exactly what it’s trying to find.

123people.com seems to provide more comprehensive results. I am not affiliated with that site in any way, just thought you might find it interesting.

cuil.com and leapfish.com seem interesting also.

    Regards,

    Niall.

    Thank-you Niall for your encouragement.

Whostalkin works well for blogs. The Twitter feed is dated like all the non-twitter.com searches. To understand the utility of Whostalkin will take time and many varied search terms to see what it uncovers in the more unusual sources.
