Dan:

I find that I can focus more on the project at hand, and that includes making contacts where they matter, rather than becoming involved in the office politics, dealing with mistakes made by employees, and other wasteful, non-productive interactions. I am more productive and work fewer hours.

I do however, miss the in-house IT guy.

Richard, funny you posted this today - I worked from home today and have been doing so a little bit more often over the past 2 years.

Have you found, or are you having to work harder, or focus more on networking than you would in the office? In a larger office, I feel that working from home often limits your exposure to office politics (which has both positive and negative aspects).
